This is a classic black enamel coffeepot with the white speckles. Many enamels coffeepot that survived home life from the turn of the century up to WWII were lost to WWII scrap-metal drives. This 1920s vintage black and white graniteware campfire coffeepot is in very good condition and perfect for displaying in a country kitchen. Enamelware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain. It became popular during the late 1900s and continued through the 1930s. Enamelware usually came in black, cobalt blue, red, purple, brown, green, pink, gray, white, and orange. The hardest colors to find are purple, red, and orange with the orange color being the rarest color of all. Patterns varied as much as the colors, the most common patterns are swirls, mottles, speckles, shades, and solids. The Enamelware was first produced in Europe. Enamelware was also called Agateware, Graniteware, Spatter-Ware, Porcelain-ware, Speckle-Ware, or Enamelware. Graniteware remains the name most widely used by collectors. It was the first mass-produced kitchenware in American. Much lighter than the average cast iron kitchenware and easier to clean and less fragile than China, Enamelware was very popular in the 20s and 30s.
